Daal ka Paratha

  • 1 cup chana dal (soaked)
  • ¼ tsp turmeric 
  • ½ tsp  red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp oregano powder
  • ½ tsp all spices powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder 
  • ¼ tsp carom seeds
  • 1/4 tsp White cumin seeds
  •  salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • Lukewarm water for kneading
  • oil as required
  1. In large vessel take chana dal boil for 15 minutes or till chana dal turns soft.
  2. Cook until all water dries up.
  3. Transfer the cooked chana dal into a blender and grind to a fine paste.
  4. Add onion, turmeric, chilli powder, oregano (optional), all spices powder, cumin powder, carom seeds, salt and 2 tbsp coriander leaves mix well until all the spices are combined well.
  5. In another bowl add all purpose flour, little salt, white cumin seeds, carom seeds and knead it with the help of luke warm water. Note that the dough should be soft.
  6. Now, roll it in a circle of with the help of rolling pin place a little sized chana dal stuffing in the centre.
  7. Take the edge and start pleating bringing to centre.
  8. Sprinkle some wheat flour and roll slightly thick.
  9. On a hot tawa place the rolled paratha and cook both sides brushing little oil.
  10. Finally, serve hot chana dal paratha with sauce, raita or pickle.
